National Institute for Training and Educational Research in association with Yogakshemasabha Attingal Upasabha and Sree Sankara Trust organized a vacation residential camp for kids called “Thumbapoov 2023” at Sree Sankara Vidyapeetom School, Nagaroor on April 28th, 29th, 30th and May 1st, 2023. The camp was a prestigious one for NaITER which will always keep an optimum level of quality and standard. The participants of the camp were aged between 5 years to 25 years this year. The participants got a chance to confront the basic problems that we are facing day by day and the sessions helped them to get an idea of how to tackle all these. The camp mainly focused on improving the survival skills and performance of participants. Thumbapoov paved a stage for the children to establish and enhance their skills and talents through performance.

Inaugural Function

The opening ceremony of the Vacation Balajana Sabha Camp “Thumbapoov 2023” jointly organized by National Institute for Training and Educational Research, Yogakshema Sabha Attingal Upasabha and Sree Shankara Trust started on April 28, 2023 at 9.30 am by lighting the Bhadra Deepam. Shankara Trust South Zone Chairman Mr. K. Kesavan Poti presided over the function. Camp Coordinator Mr. Vishnu Prasad M V, Deputy Director Academics, NaITER delivered the welcome speech.  Mr. Subramanian Namboothiri, former general secretary of Yogakshema Sabha, inaugurated the camp. Sub-House President Dr. Madhavan Namboothiri delivered the keynote address and also, he briefly narrated the history of Thumbapoov camp from its inception.

Yogakshema Sabha Thiruvananthapuram District Joint Secretary Mrs. Saraswathi S, Sree Shankara Trust South Zone Administrative Officer Mr. Vamanan Namboothiri, Kilimanoor Sub Sabha President S. Krishnan Potti, Sree Shankara Trust Representative Mr. Bijukumar NI, Attingal Sub Sabha Secretary Mr. Rajesh Akshikillam, Attingal Sub Sabha President Mr. Narayanan Namboothiri delivered greetings. Mrs. Mayadevi, President of the Attingal sub-chapter women’s assembly, expressed gratitude.

Sessions

The day started by forming groups, assigning duties and explaining the camp rules for the participants, which was done by Mr. Vishnu Prasad M V, Academic Deputy Director, Psychological Counselor, Certified Master Trainer and People Facilitator, NaITER.

The very first session was handled by Mr. Biju Mavelikkara, South Zone Program Coordinator, Certified Master Trainer & Infotainment Social Facilitator, NaITER on the topic Ice Breaking – Getting to Know Each other. The session was assisted by certified trainers Mr. Ajay Sreedhar, Mr. Chandralal S and Mr. Vishnu S S.

The second session was Emotion and Behaviour Laboratory which was carried out by Mr. Vishnu Prasad M V, Academic Deputy Director, Psychological Counselor, Certified Master Trainer and People Facilitator, NaITER and the associate certified trainers were Ms. Rajasree, Mr. Hakkim Haneefa, Mr. Biju Mavelikkara, Mr. Chandralal, Mr. Vishnu S S, Mr. Akhil S Raj, Mr. Akhil Haridas, Mr. Jickson Punnoose and Mr. Thamimul Ansari.

The third session was a performance of Fusion Music with Thabala and Violin which was performed by Mr. Akhil Haridas and Mr. Akhil S Raj, Certified Life Skill and Soft Skill Trainers, NaITER.

Next session was handled by Mr. Vasanth Krishnan S, Administrative Deputy Director, Certified Master Trainer, Minds Coach and People Facilitator, NaITER on the topic Story Telling- കഥ കേൾക്കാം കഥ മെനയാം. The session was assisted by Certified Trainers, Mr. Chandralal, Ms. Haripriya V Nand Mrs. Priya V N.

The last session of the first day of the camp was Children’s Film Festival and Open Discussion which was led by Mr. Sujith Edwin Pereira, Director NaITER, Mr. Vishnu Prasad M V, Academic Deputy Director, Psychological Counselor, Certified Master Trainer and People Facilitator, NaITER and Mr. Vasanth Krishnan S, Administrative Deputy Director, Certified Master Trainer, Minds Coach and People Facilitator, NaITER.

The day ended with day evaluation by the participants.
