Knowing a subject is not enough to train others about it. Training a diverse audience requires specific competencies. Design 22, Training of Trainers organized by NaITER -National Institute for Training and Educational Research, aims at equipping the participants with the confidence to train others. It provides the knowledge and skills to effectively prepare and train other people using a participatory approach that builds upon the participants’ knowledge and skills and helps to learn by doing. Design 22 discussed the specificities of online and in-person training and the skills needed.  

The training program started on 14th January 2022, with an inaugural function presided by Mr. Sujith Edwin Periera, Director, NaITER, and inaugurated by Dr. Sharmadh Khan, Senior Medical Officer Govt Ayurveda Hospital, Nemam. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Daniel R, Secretary NaITER, and the words of gratitude was delivered by Mr. Nisamudheen K, Deputy Director, NaITER. 

It covered the major areas of training – Importance of Ice Breakers; Training is an Art; Training Techniques & Methods; Presentation Skills; Training Styles & Dilemmas; Preparation Techniques and Evaluation Rubrics; Importance of Activities, Games, Energizers, etc in a session.

It also covered sessions like Personality Development; Self Awareness; Effective Communication; Empathy; Inter-Personal Relationships; Problem Solving; Decision Making; Basic Leadership; Creative Thinking; Critical Thinking; Copying with Emotions & Stress. This will help the participants to develop such skills themselves as a trainer and to create their content for future sessions. 

Mr. Sujith Edwin Pereira, Mr. Vasanth Krishnan, Mr. Biju B, Mr. Nisamudheen K, and Mr. Vishnu Prasad M V have taken the sessions. With the presence of Mr. Satheesh, Mr. Johny M, and Mr. Daniel R, the camp became a perfect example of NaITER’s teamwork.
